gain enough strength to become a hurricane once again. let's get all the way details from fox 29-meter psychologist scott william. busy day for you, scott. >> it has been, dawn. as far as what's happening right now, with hermine, it is moving through the carolinas. still a tropical storm mack mum sustained winds at 50 miles per hour. it's pick up some speed. now moving to the northeast at about 20 miles per hour. but it could reintensify back to a hurricane right down the jersey shore. let's focus in on latest track from the national hurricane center. you can see it moves pretty rapidly off cape hatteras by early on saturday. but then out to sea for several days. but look how it intensifies by sunday. 2:00 p.m. 70 miles per hour winds then as we move toward sunday into monday, it's back up to hurricane status. it even tries to move little farther to the shore as well. with that being said tropical storm warnings now posted for much much of south jersey all of delaware especially the coastal communities we're talking about tropical storm conditions winds
over 40 miles per hour within the next 36 hours. take look at future wind gusts by saturday morning winds already gusting over 30 miles an hour down the shore. then by saturday, 8:00 p.m., winds gusting over 40 miles per hour and it really starts to ramp up late sunday into monday. take look at the clock. monday 8am winds gusting 55 miles an hour atlantic city along with wildwood. power outages could be a concern. eastern sections of north carolina the highest probability around cape hatteras but then watch what happens as we move toward our area sunday into early next week. we have that threat for power outages. so down the shore it's going to be a wash out of a weekend. beginning late on saturday continuing for several days up to half a foot of rain possible for some. and those high tides cycles nine to 10:00 a.m. moving toward saturday night and sunday night we're talking about the potential for storm surge two to 4 feet. much more detailed analysis of
hermine coming up. >> all right, scott. some serious stuff out there. hermine so far is being blamed for one death in ocala flor. millions brace for what's to come thousands of others are cleaning up a huge mess that the storm has already left behind. >> there was 2 feet of water in the house. it came in from everywhere. usuallusually it doesn't flood t bad in this area. >> the house was kind of vibrating and we heard some sticks and stuff breaking some thing hitting the roof. >> wow. people in florida and georgia are experiencing some extensive damage. you can see huge trees just snapped right in two around the savannah area m people even had trees smashing through their homes. tens of thousands of people are still without power and as our scott williams just mentioned the storm will be moving into our area bad timing this holiday weekend. >> big question, what does this mean for folks down the shore trying to enjoy this all important holiday weekend. fox 29's bill anderson live in ocean city tonight.
bill, i'm wondering are people stick aig round or heading out? >> reporter: for most part, chris, they're sticking around. we spoke to several people today and i guess was there's not really a lot to see here yet, it's just not resonating with them that perhaps they need to be concerned. most of the people still out on the beach weather still looks good. and most of the people we spoke to said they're just not that worried about it. >> the unofficial last weekend of the summer here down to at the jersey shore and we're expecting tropical storm hermine to hit sometime this weekend. people down here concerned? there's been some discussion but not heavy. people are just mostly concerned about having a good time. >> three things. -- what do you think, concern about the storm or you good. >> we're good. >> reporter: look behind me. see the crowded beaches. and the answer is, pretty much no, they're not concerned. even with the past storms here down at the jersey shore, pretty much everyone here just kind of
shrugged it off. >> we're not concern. we have plenty of food. plenty of games. plenty of things to do. >> we're not concern at all, right? we'll have fun. you like to dance in the rain. >> reporter: kids doing back flips and building castles. adults looking for adult beverage an select few preparing for the coming storm. >> i saw hurricane sandy first hasn't. everybody is hoping it's not one of those thankfully it doesn't look like it will be one of those again. we're just preparing for the worse and hoping for the best. >> whenever you mention a storm at the jersey shore people think of super storm sandy. hermine is not supposed to be nearly that severe but it is something to be cautious of and prepared for. even if the full beach behind me shows you ocean city is not all that concerned. >> we're here for the weekend. no matter what the weather. >> you're not concerned about the weather. >> we're not concerned about the weather. >> reporter: just going to stick it out. >> just going to stick it out. >> reporter: now that last sentiment was the one that
surprised me the most. even the people who know that hermine is coming didn't feel the need to leave early or cut their trip early. they said that they are -- they are here and they're going to stick it out hopefully they continue to pay attention it's not expected to be as bad as sandy but certainly something chris and dawn that people do need to be aware of. >> absolutely. all right, thank you. looking live now at route 42 in deptford, new jersey. lots of people you can see there hittinhitting the road from skyt is the start of the holiday weekend. people trying to get to the beach although the weather is not going to cooperate. be sure to download the fox 29 weather authority app for real time weather alerts as hermine heads our way. >> in other news tonight, sad story out of mayfair. a man riding his bike is struck and killed. the impact was so strong authorities say it through the 42-year-old victim over a hundred feet. fox 29's dave schratwieser live at the accident investigation district. dave, has the driver turned himself in. >> reporter: chris, the driver turned himself in hours after
that crash in fact investigators say he has been very cooperative. he actually led police to the vehicle involved here but this is still an on-going investigation. police found the badly damaged buick season tree they believe was used in the fatal accident just a short distance away from the scene. where 42-year-old matthew matson was run down early friday morning. >> that's terrible. that's crazy. that's somebody's family member right there. >> a sad situation. report roar according to investigators it was around 12:45am when matson was riding in the 5700 block of frankford. his bike warning flashers may have been on when he was struck by this buick century in the bike lane. the car may have been traveling at a high rate of speed. matson's bike was split in two. >> he's 114 feet away from where he was struck. we don't know if he's thrown that far or more than likely he wrote a distance on the vehicle before he thrown off the vehicle. >> reporter: police say the driver of the busick century turned himself in two septa
officers friday morning and told them the car was park on van kirk. >> he left the car last night. he came up to the cops this morning, yeah. >> reporter: this woman was the victim avenue hit and rupp several months ago in the same area. she says the driver was never caught. >> it is dangerous. i pray for anybody. i pray for the guy that got hurt. >> reporter: corey graham rides his bike along frankford avenue every day. he says this stretch of roadway can be dangerous. >> i think people that's driving cars need to be more mindful of the people that's walking or riding a bike. >> it's dangerous. they should have more lights out here. >> at night it's real dangerous. >> investigators are still reviewing surveillance video from the area they did recover a driver's side rear view mirror and some pieces from a health on the roadway but the investigation is still on going. no charges have been filed at this point. dawn? >> all right, dave, thank you. new video to show you
tonight. philadelphia police say while a truck carrying new shoes was stopped at a traffic light in east germantown, someone got out of van and cut the lock. this happened monday along the 5600 block of ogontz avenue. police say later down the road the driver noticed the door had opened and when he went to the back of the truck, he was punched in the face by one of two men who were in the back. they both got away with several boxes of shoes. a frightening scene in bustleton second of the city. sky fox over the 10,000 block of jamison avenue. that's where a car smashed in the deck of a home. you can see right here that it narrowly missed landing in the pool. it happened about 3:30. so far no reports of any injuries. philadelphia police looking for this guy right here. they say he advertised on craig list that he had some cold play concert tickets for sale. a woman met up with him in center city to buy them but when she tried to get into the show, officials say they told her they were fake tickets. if you know who this guy is, call police. you decide 2016. donald trump visits the city of

meteorologist scott williams here. scott, hermine may no longer be a hurricane but i tell you this is going to ruin a lot of weekend plans. >> yeah it really is. still tropical storm but could it actually intensify, chris, back to a hurricane right off of our coast. take look at the tropical storm warnings posted for much of south jersey and delaware. the counties bordering the delaware bay and the atlantic ocean. we're talking the potential is there over the next 36 hours for tropical storm force winds. winds over 40 miles per hour. let's talk little before the about some of the steering mechanisms. you can see hermine moving through the carolinas right now. but off to the north a building area of high pressure that will kind of block the system and lock it into place off of the jersey shore for several days. that's why it will be a long duration event and major problems with beach erosion and coastal flooding. look at the spaghetti plots. taking it out to sea but look how many of the models do loop for several days off the jersey
shore. take a look at future wind gusts by saturday morning, we're already looking at winds gusting over 30 miles per hour down the shore. approaching that tropical storm force category and look at saturday night at 8:00 p.m. gusting over 40 miles an hour atlantic city, wildwood even farther inland toward millville and dover. so power outages will be a factor especially the farther south and east you head an approach the shore. by sunday, 8:00 p.m., we're still looking at those winds gusting over 40 miles per hour. it even starts to kind of crank up sunday night into monday morning by 8am winds gusting over 50 miles per hour. what about the rainfall totals, higher amounts the farther you head down the shore. we could close in on four or 6-inches of rainfall. lesser amounts maybe up to an inch around the philadelphia area with that purple you can see the legend showing 1 inch. the impacts down the shore, several inches of rain. winds gusting over 50 miles per hour.
tidal flooding, beach erosion. as you move a little farther inland, clouds on saturday. we should stay dry around the philadelphia area. some rain moving in for sunday. winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour still breezy on monday. so a rip current danger the entire weekend down the shore. we're looking at sunday and monday with those peak winds gusting upwards to 50 maybe even more miles per hour. once again, in center city we're looking at sunday being the iffy day with the showers and winds really picking up. beautiful, however, though if you're staying in the poconos with lesser impacts the farther north and west you head. so once we get beyond the up coming weekend gradual clearing and look at wednesday, thursday and friday. we're talking about another potential heat wave. sean? >> scott, temple back on the field trying to follow up a historic season. i know you're very happy right now. >> we're going down there. >> exactly. but coast says let's forget about that and focus on right now. we'll basically talk about the
